I'm so excited to finally share the photos from this super romantic, alternative woodland elopement in a pine forest in the West Midlands between two of the coolest people I've had the pleasure of capturing, Cal and Gemma.
This forest in Worcestershire has a specific spot wherein lies a patch of giant sequoia trees, and this makes for the most beautiful setting for a woodland elopement. Now, the trees are not the tremendous size of the Redwoods in California, but they are still as spectacular on a British scale, and as far as a wedding in nature is concerned they made for the perfect backdrop.
Cal and Gemma made their way to the forest in Chaddesley Corbett in their VW Transporter camper and made the untraditional decision to get ready together, sacking off all the pressures that come with a traditional wedding. They had a cup of coffee together (straight black, obviously, as they aren't wimps) before they got ready and headed into the forest.
They exchanged their personal vows nestled amongst the pines and had a celebrant perform their ceremony, which included meaningful elements such as natural woven hand ties and sharing whiskey from a quaiche. The couple chose for the day to be just them; the celebrant, Jacqui Harding (Ceremonies By Design), and ourselves as photographer and videographer being the only other people attending. This meant that the whole day was purely for them and their love, they had no pressures from anyone else about how it should be and made it completely personal to them. This is what is so special about elopements and intimate weddings, and why I love to capture them so much.
